Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory!
For the wedding of the Lamb has come….
Revelation 19:17
After leaving the chapel and the wedding guests’ well wishes, my new husband described his struggle and hesitancy to follow through with the wedding ceremony. Though shocked, I rationalized his comments as his lack of confidence for fulfilling his own high expectations for a godly husband.
Now, decades later, as I heal from narcissist abuse, I recall his expression as I, the radiant bride, walked toward him that evening. Instead of an eager, joyful groom, his expression reflected only frozen resoluteness.
I still long to be desired by an eager groom, and Scripture describes the ultimate fulfillment of that longing in brilliant detail.
Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear…. I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True…. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns…. On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS (Rev. 19:7-16)
One day, as part of the body of Christ, I will share in our Redeemer’s jubilation. We will be run after in great love by our coming King, and our hearts will respond with wellsprings of untapped joy!
David and Nicole Binion capture that moment in the song, "I was in the Spirit on the Lord's Day". Worship and imagine that glorious occasion!
